RISING visits salt hay farm and restored wetlands in New Jersey

To New Jersey we go! A group of RISING PIs, New Jersey Extension agents, and folks working in marsh conservation toured a salt hay farm and learned about efforts to restore native marshes species in southern New Jersey.

John Zander welcomed us to Cohansey Meadows Farms in Fairton, New Jersey. John is the owner and operator of Cohansey Meadows Farms where they grow, package, and sell salt hay. The salt hay farming business is fascinating. Join us for our August Webinar to hear more from John Zander, our featured speaker! After touring the farm, the group visited the Green Swamp Area Cohansey River Watershed Restoration Site to hear from Becky Clanton. Becky is the Chief Environmental Scientist at PSEG Estuary Enhancement Program and has been integral to restoring native grasses to the wetlands in this area.
